Houston, Texas

Like any other city, living in Houston, Texas has its own pros and cons. The cultural diversity, great food scene, and friendly people are the best traits of the place. There are also several job opportunities which makes it a great place for career growth. Compared with other big cities in the US, the cost of living is still manageable. But on the downside, the large population leads to heavy traffic, more homeless people, and higher crime rate. The hot and humid weather can also be uncomfortable during summer months. So while the city has positive aspects, you have to weigh the challenges before deciding to settle in this side of the state.

Houston Zoo

A visit in Houston will never be complete unless you go to the Houston Zoo. This is one of the famous attractions in the city. It is one of the largest zoos in the country and home to more than 6,000 animals. The zoo is divided into different sections featuring different animals. The African Forest recreates the tropical home of gorillas, chimpanzees, and other wildlife. There is also the Kipp Aquarium that exhibits more than 2000 different types of marine animals. Of course, they have a dedicated section to feature Texas wildlife – the Kallison Ranch. In this area, you will see bison, prairie dogs, and bald eagles up close. The museum is open from 9 am until 5 pm with extended operation time during summer months to accommodate more guests.

Houston Man Faces Charges for Having a Woman Hostage for Four Years

A mobile trailer home served as the prison cell of a 32-year old woman who was allegedly kidnapped by a 42-year old man from Houston. The victim was only able to call for help when Abraham Bravo Segura, the suspect, accidentally left his phone while he went out for work. Police came to the scene and saw three guns inside the mobile home. Segura and his friends argue that the charges for kidnapping were unfair since the two are on a relationship for years. Neighbors say they only see the man going to work and rarely see the woman. The arraignment is scheduled on March 13 in a Harris County court. Meanwhile, Segura’s bond is set at $150,000 and is on house arrest.
